Ritual & Rest

Yoga Retreat & Nature Immersion

with Kristine Whittle & Restorative Therapies

February 6-12, 2027

Tailwind Jungle Lodge ~ Riviera Nayarit, Mexico

Ritual. Reconnection. Rest. Resourcing. Remembrance.

Join the Restorative Therapies Community on the Pacific coast of Mexico, where we’ll gather in a magical eco-lodge nestled between lush jungle and the ocean’s edge. Here, in this sacred natural setting, we will slow down, drop into the rhythms of the natural world and breathe deeply. Held by the land and supported by community, we will reconnect with what truly matters, restoring a felt sense of wholeness and belonging.

Balanced with plenty of time to rest and reset individually, our days will be centered around Gentle Active & Restorative Yoga Practices, Ceremony, Nourishing Meals, and Sacred Relationship with Elementals Earth, Air, Fire and Water.

Our retreat unfolds at Tailwind Jungle Lodge, an eco-sanctuary overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Each day offers gentle movement & yoga practice, ritual reconnection, private beach time, jungle walks, peaceful hammock time, and shared meals.

Slowing down, resting and listening. Some of the biggest medicine of retreats lies in intentionally stepping out of the fast pace of daily life to reclaim a more spacious relationship with time. Attuning to the easeful pace of the natural world allows simple, potent shift to occur. We will return to quiet, soft, restful space repetitively throughout each day and eve.

Stop, Drop and Roll. Movement & yoga practices will include Bodymind Ballwork – simple massage using rubber balls to unwind tension in our back, neck, shoulders, hips, legs and feet.

Ritual Reconnection. Accompanied by the healing sounds of the shruti, sacred shakers, wind, and ocean waves, we will rattle, hum, & share simple songs as part of our group practices. All voices are invited – from full throated harmony to a quiet hum. Together we’ll sing ourselves into clarity & resonance. A Ritual & Rest song book is brewing…audio recordings and lyrics to arrive well before we depart for those who would like to practice.

Imagine retreat as a gift of time and space to not only soak in beautiful beaches and warm sun, but a golden opportunity to step into:
~ Remembering our selves as fundamentally whole, relational beings who belong to the earth.
~ “Reclaiming connection to living land, to awe and wonder, and to the story of what it means to be a human being.” (quote from one of my teachers, Josh Schrei of The Mythic Body)

Ritual Craft: Rattle Making

Sacred shakers are more than tools, they are living, breathing instruments; Allies that remind us that healing doesn’t always happen in silence, sometimes it comes through rhythm, vibration, and sacred sound. Rattles have been used across cultures for thousands of years, in ceremonies, healing rituals, and rites of passage. Their percussive rhythm echoes the primal heartbeat of the Earth, guiding us into altered states of awareness where the nervous system can finally exhale.

Guided by Local Artist Rodrigo Ballester, an incredible craftsman of ritual objects who works with ancestral techniques and holds deep knowledge of the traditions we are exploring, we will assemble, carve and adorn our own rattles to use during retreat and back home.

Ceremony: Temazcal
As an option, this retreat offers the opportunity to experience a local ceremony held in a traditional space.

Sweat lodges are a feature common to many cultures around the world, including in Finland, Turkey, and across much of the American continent. In Mesoamerica, the most well-known type of sweat lodge is the temazcal — from the Nahuatl language teme “to bathe” and calli “house.” Temazcales are places of healing, spirituality, and introspection.

Guided by temezcalero Marciano Corona, we crawl into a space that represents our mother’s womb, to which we return to recover the memory of our truest being and all our relations. Within this space, we become aware of what lies beyond the veils of perception – purifying and strengthening ourselves through the medicine of ancient stones and steam. We give thanks to our allies fire, water, air, and earth through the vibration of intentional words and song.

The work is physical: we sweat, purify, and detoxify, while all our systems are strengthened.
Mentally, we practice quieting the mind, relaxing, and entering a deeper state of meditation. Emotionally, we open the door to healing from the root, allowing feelings to flow and freeing ourselves from heavy burdens. On a spiritual level, finding ourselves vulnerable in a safe space, we can remember the being at the center that dwells in everything.

The temazcal is a sacred place of healing and must be treated as such; while the experience is intense, it is safe, powerful, restorative, and potentially alchemical.

Come as you are.

Together in community, we’ll explore embodied presence, spirituality, and relational connection to the animate life forces and elements of the natural world as they are reflected in our own body-heart-minds.
Come exactly as you are.
All parts of you are welcome.
Rest – Let the land, the waters & the community hold you.
Offer – Through planting native species or supporting small projects in the local community, we can offer care through action — leaving something living and lasting behind. San Pancho has an incredible community center! The founder, Nicole Swedlow, recently received an award from the Dalai Lama as “An Unsung Hero of Compassion.” We can visit and/or get involved by bringing donations with us (school supplies, clothing, monetary donations, etc.) or volunteering a few hours during our stay. Please visit www.entreamigos.org for more info and to find out more about current projects.
Receive – Restoration and renewal through reciprocal reconnection to the source of life.

Payment & Dates

About Pricing: This retreat is coming into being through a deep longing to connect with this coastal land and the waters of the pacific ocean in community with like minded folks who may also be feeling such a pull. The intention is that it is first and foremost an opportunity to build a solid foundation for an ongoing reciprocal relationship with the Jacobi Family, their ecolodge, and their larger community of human and other than human ecology. Creating this as an offering to friends, family, and community that is as affordable and accessible as possible helps bring this vision to life.

Transport & Logistics

The retreat center is located approximately 30 miles north of Puerto Vallarta, just outside of the town of San Pancho—about a 1 hour drive north, in the state of Nayarit. Air Canada, United and Southwest Airlines fly direct for just over 3hrs from Denver International to Puerto Vallarta. Flights that stop in Phoenix or other cities on the way are about half the price, and add a few hours to the overall travel time. The very lowest prices – and longest travel times – can be found at https://www.vivaaerobus.com/en-us/. It looks like the cheapest time to book a flight to Puerto Vallarta is around 40 days in advance, so don’t leave your flight to the last minute. Set up a price tracker on kayak.com or skyscanner.com to get notifications when new flights are added and prices change.

There will be the option to participate in organized shuttles from Puerto Vallarta airport based on the group’s travel needs, which is not included in the retreat price. Travel time from the airport to Tailwind Jungle Lodge is about 60 minutes.  You are welcome to rent a car if you prefer, and recommendations can be provided/discussed.

It is entirely possible to travel from home to the retreat in the same day! Check in to the retreat center will be Saturday February 6th 3pm. Departure from the retreat center will be Friday February 12th 11am. (earlier check out/check in is available on request). With these being travel days and dependent on flight times, please don’t stress about your arrival/departure times, most flights into Puerto Vallarta land mid morning to early afternoon, which will support getting to the retreat center on time. Reach out if you have any questions or need guidance.

To enter Mexico, your passport* must be valid  for the DURATION OF YOUR STAY.

*The standard rule for most countries regarding passport expiration is valid for a MINIMUM of 60 days past your departure date, but ideally AT LEAST 6 MONTHS from the date you enter that country. Please check your passport and take action now if needed!
